How to Make Chicken and Pasta Bake
this recipe...
This pasta bake is a real family favourite. Also pasta has a low Glycaemic Index (GI). Eating low GI foods may make you feel fuller for longer after eating, which may help you avoid snacking between meals and eat less overall.
ingredients
- remaining chicken meat from a roast chicken carcass
- 2 tablespoon of butter
- 2 tablespoon of flour
- 1 pint of milk
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 packet of your favourite dried pasta e.g. shells or macaroni
- broccoli
- handful of grated cheddar cheese
- Start cooking the pasta according to the instructions on the packet. For the last five minutes of cooking add the broccoli.
- Heat the milk with the bay leaf in a saucepan then keep warm.
- Make the white sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan - add the flour and stir with a wooden spoon until it all comes together.
- Add the milk slowly to the butter and flour mixture to form a nice smooth white sauce.
- In a greased oven-proof bowl combine the pasta, broccoli, chicken and white sauce.
- Top with the grated cheese.
- Pop into a preheated oven (180 degrees/gas mark 4) for around 30 minutes, until it has browned and is hot and bubbling.
