How to Cook Roast Chicken
Day 1 - Perfect Roast Chicken
oking a roast chicken is easy and there will be enough chicken left over to make the other tasty recipes with the leftovers. Why not get cooking!
ingredients
- 1 Red Tractor chicken (around 1.6kg)
- 1 large onion
- 1 carrots
- 1 leek
- 1 stick of celery
- oil or a knob of butter
- salt and pepper to taste
To prepare your chicken
Take your chicken out of the fridge 30 minutes
before it goes into the oven
- Preheat your oven to 240°C/475°F/gas 9
- Wash and chop the vegetables
- Put all the veg into the middle of a large roasting tray
- Place the chicken on top of the vegetables in the roasting
- trayand rub oil or butter over the skin
- Put it into the preheated oven
- Turn the heat down to 200°C/400°F/gas 6 and cook the chicken for
- 1 hour and 20 minutes
- Serving up
If the chicken is colouring to quickly drop down a shelf in the oven
- or cover with tin foil
- The chicken is cooked when the juices run clear not pink!
- Allow the chicken to cool for around 30 minutes.
- Then carve and serve it up with your favourite seasonal British vegetables.
